Who are Springboard Research and describe the event briefly?
Springboard Research is a new analyst organisation created by ex-Gartner and IDC analysts – they are quickly becoming the alternative research choice of Australian organisations looking for non-biased advice on the local market. They are hosting an event in Sydney, around the hot topic- Green IT called Making Business Sense out of Green IT. Delegates will be exposed to:
• the business value of Green IT
• A clear and actionable strategic approach to Green IT.
• Understanding the positive effect it can have on an organisation bottom-line.
• Heads-up on emerging Government ‘Green’ legislation
What makes this event different to other ‘Green’ events in the marketplace?
The host Springboard Research has based the event on comprehensive research undertaken in the area of Green IT and how it specifically affects Australian businesses.
Many other Green events focus on general Green IT tactics such as virtualization and recycling – this event focuses on the long-term strategy behind Green IT, not to mention how to reap economic benefits from Green IT.
An independent, non-biased view on the best strategic approach to Green IT for the Australian market place.

How can I be sure the content will be useful to me?
Eventually government legislation will enforce organisations to become carbon neutral within limited timescales. This event will put your organisation on the right path to becoming carbon neutral without it negatively impacting the bottom-line. Eventually all businesses will have the responsibility to reduce Australia’s carbon foot print.
Also, if the event content does not meet your expectations, Springboard is offering a 100% delegate fee refund. Just ensure you make your feelings know at the event rather than after to qualify, if you register, more details on how to do this will be available.

Large to small organisations who recognise this is an unavoidable topic that will eventually affect all organisations globally.
What job roles/job titles/individuals are attending or should I attend?

I am currently conducting some Green IT activities, I don’t need to know or do anymore?
That’s good to hear. But this event will enable you to gauge if these activities are having a positive impact on your bottom line and if it is sufficient for upcoming government legislation. There is actually a business strategy to implementing Green IT and a way to reap economic beneifts - Springboard will present this at the event. The event will make sure you are ticking all the right boxes to becoming carbon neutral and saving money – see it as a sanity check to your current activities.
We don’t have anyone in particular responsible for Green IT
Actually that is an area our event is going to cover. A lot of organisations have yet to assign a ‘Green IT Champion’ and clarify who should really take ownership of it. The event will advise delegates on who should be involved in the strategy behind Green IT, and who should champion it. The CEO, CIO, IT Managers, Facilities staff all has a part to play when building a strategy and implementing Green IT. Can you put me in contact with someone who has these job titles in your organisation?
I have other priorities that are higher than these, why should I focus on Green IT?
Green IT is rapidly climbing up the IT ladder. Soon there will be no choice but to focus on Green IT, Springboard analysts predict that Australian Government will create more uniform and stringent Green IT regulations, which will spur greater visibility and adoption in the market.
Attending this event will prepare you for this. Also Based on thorough research conducted in 2007, Springboard Research analysts predict that cost Savings Will Drive Green IT Investments – Although creating a greener planet will drive some implementations, the primary driver for Green IT adoption in Australia will be the cost savings provided by better energy efficiency.
This is all hype, just like Y2K, it will go away eventually, won’t it?
The carbon footprint of the global IT industry (producers and consumers) is enormous and increasing at a rapid rate. Green IT is gaining global attention because most IT impact on the environment can be reduced through best practices in IT operations, waste reduction programs, environmentally driven procurement policies and by using existing, but rarely used, eco-friendly features in technology products, such as power management.
Springboard analysts predict that Australian Government will create more uniform and stringent Green IT regulations, which will spur greater visibility and adoption in the market – therefore there will be no choice but to focus on Green IT. Attending this event will prepare you for this.
I don’t want to be bombarded with more emails, why should I opt in?
If you decide not to attend the event, then we would advise that you sign up for ‘Green Updates’ from Springboard. They are the first research organisation in Australia to focus an entire event on the topic and have allocated analysts to monitor Green IT trends and emerging government legislations. If nothing else it will give you heads-up on what to do next regarding Green IT and prepare your organisation.
Green IT activities are too expensive - How could Green IT positively affect my organisations bottom-line?
The initial capital costs for Green IT can appear prohibitive. This event will provide delegates with a better understanding of Total Cost of Green Ownership looking at all capital and operational costs
- the event will prove that Green IT procurement can deliver real cost savings over the medium to longer term.
Summary of why some delegates are attending?
Eventual government legislation for all organisations to become carbon neutral. Opt-in and Springboard will notify you and send you relevant advice on these legislations.
Ah-hoc Green IT activities will not secure the carbon neutral status government legislation will be looking for.
Individuals and organisations are becoming more ‘green’ savvy and will base purchase decisions on an organisations ‘Green status’
An Ad-hoc approach to Green IT activities could cost an organisation more in the long-run, rather than a well thought out strategy that integrates with organisation goals and saves money. |
